[KY] Police Sgt. Hellinger says he lied about his wife assaulting him

[Excerpts] A Louisville Metro Police sergeant has been charged with 13 misdemeanors, including official misconduct. Sgt. James Hellinger, who is on paid administrative leave, was charged Oct. 27 with false swearing, falsely reporting an incident and 11 counts of official misconduct, according to court records. Hellinger had his police powers suspended that same day... The department’s public integrity unit, which investigates possible criminal activity by police, is investigating the matter... According to the criminal complaint, Hellinger allegedly sent an e-mail to Kentucky State Police on Oct. 29, 2008, to request information about a person, falsely claiming the individual was a suspect. The complaint also alleges Hellinger used metro police computers on 10 occasions to access a law enforcement Web site account for non-law enforcement purposes. Hellinger also is accused of calling police July 7 to report that his wife was drunk and beating him... During an Aug. 17 hearing in Jefferson Family Court, Hellinger testified that he had lied about the July 7 incident...   2. This sergeant was acquitted on all of these charges after a jury trial in Jefferson County District Court on 8/16/2010.

  7. Behind the blue wall....you can't beleive everything you read in the paper. This guy did nothing wrong and you are slandering his name and I should let him know so he can sue you for libel. I doubt this will get posted though!!!!
