A police officer charged with threatening his wife has given up his right to a preliminary hearing and faces trial in Northampton County Court... John Fiore, 44, was scheduled for a Nov. 27 hearing, but Wednesday he stopped into District Judge James Stocklas' office to waive the hearing on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. The order will effectively put Fiore's days as a part-time police officer in Moore Township on indefinite hold, police Chief Gary West said... West said Fiore won't be fired or suspended; he just won't be placed on the schedule until the PFA is resolved... Fiore's full-time job as an armed officer at Lehigh Valley International Airport also is in limbo. George Doughty, executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, said Fiore will remain on leave indefinitely until there is resolution with the PFA. In the meantime, he is not suspended or fired but remains on leave -- at least until his vacation and sick time run out. "He is an employee on leave"... (Full article here)
