A Wausau Police officer has resigned from the force, nearly two months after he was accused of attempting to kill his wife. Chueng Lee, 45, of Weston resigned as of Nov. 3... Lee is in the Shawano County Jail on felony charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, aggravated battery and false imprisonment. He is expected to enter a plea to the charges Nov. 26. Lee faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted on all counts. Lee's estranged wife testified last month at a hearing in Shawano County Circuit Court that her husband intentionally crashed his truck Sept. 18 into a bridge in rural Shawano County in an attempt to kill her... An internal investigation of the 15-year veteran of the department was suspended after Lee's attorney, James Connell, said that Lee intended to resign... Marathon County District Attorney Jill Falstad has filed felony charges of kidnapping, second-degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, threats to injure and stalking against Lee for alleged incidents prior to the Sept. 18 crash. He has not been formally charged on those counts.
