ATTLEBORO - Retired Police Chief Roland Sabourin has completed treatment at an alcohol rehabilitation center, and his court case has been transferred to Fall River District Court. Sabourin was ordered into treatment in September after he was charged with domestic assault, uttering threats to kill and resisting arrest in connection with a quarrel with his wife... Sabourin, 59, allegedly was drunk at the time and struggled with police called to his home...

[Excerots] Domestic assault-related charges against retired Attleboro Police Chief Roland Sabourin have been dismissed and he is on probation for resisting arrest in an incident last September. Charges of assault and uttering threats filed against Sabourin were dismissed after his wife invoked her marital privilege to refuse to testify against her husband, both sides confirmed Friday... Sabourin, 60, was placed on probation for nine months on a charge of resisting arrest, which was continued without a finding, according to his lawyer, Robert Ovoian of Attleboro, and a spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter...  his wife claimed in a restraining order affidavit that she suffered years of emotional, mental and physical abuse when he drank...
