NEW HARTFORD, November 14, 2009 -- In wake of her untimely and tragic death, those who knew Kristin (Palumbo) Longo have high hopes to make the upcoming benefit for her children an annual success. The memory of a dear friend, mother, daughter and sister is fresh in the minds of friends of Kristin Longo and her family. A mother of four, Kristin Longo was fatally stabbed by her husband, Utica Police Officer Joseph Longo Jr. on September 28 in their home on Cosby Manor Road in Deerfield. A celebration of life in memory of Kristin Longo is scheduled for Saturday, November 28 from 7 - 11 p.m. at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford... The benefit was initially the idea of Daina Bennett, who is a long-time friend of Kristin Longo's sister, Gina Pearce... Members of the Utica Police Department are still struggling each day with the memory of one of their own who committed the fateful crime that left the four children behind... "We will do anything we possibly can for those kids," [Utica Police Benevolent Association President Tom Brady] said. "Those children are family to us, no matter what took place. It was an unspeakable, tragic thing that happened, and we will do anything to help them"... Anyone who can't attend can still make a donation online at http://donations.longotrust.com/, which will still be available after the event.... [Full article here]
