[Excerpts] Unsolicited emails commenting about her personal appearance, the way she dressed, her eyes, face and even her buttocks began showing up at the end of January on a 38-year-old woman's work computer, police said. The sender -- a veteran Delaware State Police detective -- apologizes that he's harassing her, writes that she is "addicting to him like a drug," and says he is "not insane, crazy or a stalker," they said. By April, the detective is making telephone calls to her home while her husband is not there, police said. This week, the shaken victim, who had no prior relationship with the trooper, filed a criminal complaint against him with investigators, bringing with her folders full of emails, letters and phone messages -- all from Detective Sgt. Ryan J. Mitchell, according to court records. The 15-year police veteran was suspended Tuesday while police officials continued to investigate... On two occasions, Mitchell called her at home and told her "he knew her spouse was not at home and that he just wanted to talk with her," police said in court records. After investigators interviewed the victim Monday, Mitchell sent a flurry of emails to the victim Tuesday night -- at 5:22 p.m., 5:43 p.m., 6:01 p.m., 7:52 p.m. and 9:03 p.m. -- telling her that he would "lose everything he cherished" because she had reported him, police said. After his arrest Thursday, Mitchell was later released on $500 unsecured bail... [Full article here]

  1. When the case goes to court and the emails are read, the woman will be completely exonerated, believe me. I have read the emails. This is a case of a nut job who went off the deep end. He admits to it in the emails.

  2. love to know when this goes to court! Hopefully the local papers will report on it. Nothing good will come from it either way, but this man needs help, and apparently so does his family who feel it's appropriate to make contact with the victim. Mr. MItchell is not a little kid who got caught stealing candy. It's a much bigger issue than that and needs to be taken seriously. I have heard so many stories about this, it amazes me the lengths people will go to save their reputation. If your caught, your caught, now it's time to face the consequences.
