Babbitt Police Officer Travis William Lindberg's girlfriend said that he got mad at her, grabbed her by her throat and pushed her backwards. She said it terrified her and that she was unable to breathe. Another angry episode happened a few days later and she decided to report what had happened. When police questioned Lindberg he admitted what he was accused of. Lindberg is charged with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of domestic assault. The girlfriend has moved out, the judge ordered him to not contact her, and the next court date is April 6th. From what I've been able to dig up Officer Lindberg was fired from Babbitt Police Department April 4th following his arrest and arraignment, by a unanimous vote at a city meeting.

The Duluth Air Guard - 148th Fighter Wing, suspended him pending the outcome of his criminal trial.
He pled guilty to Felony Domestic Assault by Strangulation on June 6th, and will be sentanced on July 18th.
Does anyone know if this is the same officer who works in st. Louis county Minnesota?

A former part-time police officer and security guard was sentenced this week to 90 days in jail for assaulting his girlfriend.
Travis William Lindberg, 32, of Carlton also faces a one-year prison sentence if he fails to meet terms of his probation. Lindberg was sentenced Monday in Carlton County Court on one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation for assaulting his girlfriend earlier this year. Lindberg pleaded guilty to the charge on June 6. A misdemeanor charge of domestic assault with the intent to inflict bodily harm was dismissed.
Judge Robert Macaulay sentenced Lindberg to one year and one day of incarceration, but as part of the plea agreement stayed the sentence for three years of probation. Lindberg will, however, be required to serve 90 days in jail (with credit for three days already served), pay a $500 fine, have no contact with the victim, complete the Domestic Abuse Intervention Program, be subject to random searches, not consume alcohol and not possess any firearms.
Macaulay ordered that Lindberg serve the first
45 days of his sentence in jail and indicated the rest may be staggered, depending on the outcome of a Dec. 5 review hearing to determine if Lindberg has been in compliance with the terms of his sentence.
Lindberg was formerly a part-time law enforcement officer with the city of Babbitt, a civilian security officer who worked at the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth and an on-call EMT/firefighter with the Carlton Fire Department. Lindberg has reportedly been terminated by the city of Babbitt and the Carlton Fire Department because of the charges and suspended from the 148th Fighter Wing.
According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Lindberg’s girlfriend told Carlton County Sheriff’s deputies the two got into an argument about Lindberg’s daughter March 24. During the argument, the victim alleged that Lindberg got very angry and grabbed her by her throat and pushed her backward into a room. The woman told authorities that she was “terrified” and she was unable to breathe. She said she then barricaded herself in the room until Lindberg calmed down.
She said she and Lindberg tried to talk about what happened, but Lindberg once again became angry and started to “throw things around the apartment.” After that episode, the girlfriend decided to report the incident to authorities, who went to Lindberg’s address, questioned him and subsequently arrested him.
