An Elkhart police officer now faces criminal charges. Tristan Miller has been on administrative leave. The Elkhart County prosecutor now charged him with domestic battery and animal cruelty. Both are misdemeanors. The charges stem from an incident in January involving Miller and his girlfriend. The criminal investigation alleges Miller hit his girlfriend in the chest during an argument, and shot her cat several times with a BB gun. Miller admitted to the charges. Police Chief Dale Pflibsen wants Miller fired.
