[VA] Officer Turner arrested for assault of his wife

...Albemarle police say this isn't the first domestic violence case they've ever seen against one of their officers. They've dealt with situations like this in the past and those officers are no longer on the force...

Officer Jeffrey Turner was taken into custody back on February 10th, after fellow Albemarle County officers were called to his house and found probable cause to arrest Turner for domestic assault. Turner was not booked and did not spend a night in jail. The magistrate released Turner on a summons. Turner is now on suspended leave with pay. Albemarle County Police will conduct an internal investigation. Once it's completed and submitted, the Albemarle County Police Chief will make the final decision on whether Turner will remain suspended with pay or even terminated.

An Albemarle County police officer is facing charges. Both criminal and internal police investigations are underway. Officer Jeffrey Turner was arrested and charged for assault and battery against a family member. Albemarle police say he is now suspended with pay, but has turned in his badge and gun... Police got a 9-1-1 call of domestic violence at Turner's house in Crozet... When they got there, officers found reason enough to arrest Turner, a long-time veteran officer for Albemarle County. Albemarle police say this isn't the first domestic violence case they've ever seen against one of their officers. They've dealt with situations like this in the past and those officers are no longer on the force... "He's not treated any differently than anybody else who was arrested for domestic assault"... Turner is not in jail, but a protective order was also placed against him the day of the assault. This charge is a misdemeanor. The maximum penalty in this case is 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. He is scheduled to appear in court February 25...
