[Excerpts] Fort Pierce Police Officer Troy Giovengo has been suspended after he was charged Friday evening with stalking his ex-girlfriend. Chief Sean Baldwin suspended Giovengo, 42, pending an investigation after he was arrested by Port St. Lucie Police officers and charged with aggravated stalking after his former girlfriend told police Giovengo had been sending her text messages and showing up unannounced at her house, said Port St. Lucie Police Department spokesman Tom Nichols... The 51-year-old-woman and Giovengo had dated for nine years before their relationship ended in October... About 5:25 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 1100 block of Southeast Proctor Lane when the woman’s son told dispatchers Giovengo was threatening his mother. The son watched the argument from a window because he feared for his mom’s safety. While in the woman’s driveway, Giovengo allegedly told her she “belonged to him” and she made him lose his church and family, the affidavit states. Several times the woman told Giovengo to leave but he refused and continued to argue with her, saying “she had lied to him for nine years and if he had to he would burn down the house and he would go to jail if he had to,” according to the affidavit. “God put us together,” Giovengo told the woman, the affidavit states.
