[Excerpts] Councilman Tony Young's wife, Jacqueline Young, called the San Diego Police Department to report a domestic violence incident on Feb. 16... The Police Department won't release the full police report from the incident, and no arrest was made and no charges were filed. The documents state that the reporting party, Jacqueline Young, was having an argument and fight with Tony Young and that she did not want to say if he had hit her... Jacqueline Young said she and her husband ended up in a heated argument on a stressful day and that she made the 911 call in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. "Hindsight's 20-20 and I feel really silly. At that moment, I felt like I really needed him and I to disengage and we couldn't do that on our own," she said. Councilman Young said the incident was a "silly" thing and resulted from an argument he and his wife of 20 years had on "an emotional day"... The incident history states that the caller was not injured, that there were no weapons involved in the incident and that the couple's two children were present at the house at the time the call was made. And it shows that the police captain for the district where the Youngs live, Tony McElroy, was informed of the incident. [Full article here]

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said his office decided not to file charges and forwarded the matter to the state Attorney General's Office for review. Goldsmith said the state told his office yesterday that it had not abused its discretion and that the state would not file charges independently... [Full article here]
