MADERA COUNTY DEPUTY CHARGED IN SEX ASSAULT ON WIFE

A Madera County sheriff's deputy was charged Monday with felony sexual assault offenses and dissuading a witness from reporting to police, the Fresno County District Attorney's Office said. Jerry Michael Saldivar was arrested in March in connection with an alleged attack on his wife. Saldivar, 37, faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted. Clovis police arrested Saldivar in March on suspicion of rape, a forcible act of sexual penetrating and false imprisonment, all felony counts. He also was booked him on suspicion of preventing a 911 call from being made, a misdemeanor. Court records said he videotaped the alleged attack. The 11-year veteran of the Madera County Sheriff's Department remains on paid administrative leave. After his March arrest, he was released from jail on $300,000 bail... [Full article here]
