PLEA DELAYED FOR CHIEF'S WIFE IN SHOOTING CASE

[Excerpts] The estranged wife of Ft. Lauderdale's police chief was expected to enter a plea Friday on charges related to firing a gun near her husband last year, but even though she appeared in court briefly no plea was entered. A new court date was set for May. 45-year-old Eleanor Adderley did not speak during a brief appearance in court before Broward Circuit Judge Matthew Destry, who set a new court date for May 7th. She is married to Ft. Lauderdale police chief Frank Adderley, but the two separated after the shooting incident... Eleanor Adderley was reportedly angry about an affair her husband had. He spoke on her behalf... No official arrangement for a plea has been released, but her attorney has said he is working to have the aggravated assault charge dropped. [Excerpts]...But if Eleanor "Leisa" Adderley, 45, doesn't enter into a plea deal at a May 7 court hearing, it's unlikely her felony case will be resolved soon, attorney David Bogenschutz said... Adderley is charged with two felonies; aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting in a dwelling. Because a firearm was involved, she faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison...
