On May 11, 2006, Robert Vanaman took the life of my sister, Barbara Vanaman... On Monday, we will be able to tell the judge how we feel. How Robert ruined our lives. How he took away a treasure that is irreplaceable. The family is asking for anyone and everyone who had been fortunate enough to know Barbara, who would like to continue to be there for her and her family, to please take the time to write a letter to the judge... [Excerpts] ...[Barbara Vanaman's stepfather, John] Shaffer said his family believes attorneys for Robert Vanaman's defense may present 100 or more letters and individuals asking for leniency... The Vanamans have two sons, Dillon and Dean. Both live with their father... Shaffer said Barbara Vanaman had written a personal computer entry about her plans to leave Robert.
