[Excerpts] Local police arrested State Trooper Donald McCabe Thursday night for allegedly threatening his wife in the YMCA parking lot. McCabe, 38, of Somersworth, was arrested outside the Lowell Street YMCA around 9 p.m. and charged with criminal threatening and disorderly conduct. The charges stem from an 8 p.m. incident in the parking lot involving his wife, police said. “He allegedly pushed his wife in the lot, banged on the window and called her vulgar names, which led to the disorderly and criminal threatening charges,” Rochester police Capt. Paul Callaghan said this morning. He was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail about 11 p.m., according to police... “After an investigation and a consultation with the county attorney’s office, we determined that the charges would be filed. [Excerpts] Earlier this month a judge found a Somersworth state trooper not guilty of criminal threatening for yelling at his wife outside the Lowell Street YMCA in February. The County Attorney's Office previously dropped a disorderly conduct charge in the case. Trooper Donald McCabe, 38, pleaded not guilty to both of the charges stemming from the Feb. 10 incident. Police responded to the scene after receiving a call that McCabe, a youth hockey coach, was pounding on a car window and yelling obscenities at his estranged wife, who was there dropping their son off for hockey practice... State Police Lt. Mark Myrdek confirmed McCabe is still with the force and said he was happy Judge Robert C. Cullen found the officer not guilty. "I guess all I can say is we react the same to any other court case," he said. "Obviously I'm probably more pleased that an employee is not convicted of something like that"... [Full article here]
