When I read this sentence found at the end of one of the articles, it made me wonder who said what throughout the whole police report. Did his wife really say something about his mother, or not?:

A Maxton police officer has been placed on leave with pay while two agencies investigate allegations that he assaulted his wife, according to authorities. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether Officer Bobby Locklear, 35, assaulted his wife during the weekend. Maxton Police Chief Paul McDowell said Monday his department is also looking into the complaint. He said Locklear has been placed on leave with pay while the complaint is investigated. Locklear has not been charged. Tashia Locklear... told deputies the incident happened Sunday afternoon at the Smith’s Volunteer Fire Department... She said she went to the fire department to drop off the couple’s two children. The couple got into an altercation when Tashia Locklear opened the door to the building and asked Bobby Locklear who he was talking to on his cell phone. Tashia Locklear said her husband shut the door in her face. When he hung up, Bobby Locklear stepped outside and told his wife she had to leave... They began to argue and Locklear pushed his wife against the bay door... When Tashia Locklear made a statement about her husband’s mother, he struck her in the face, the report stated. Bobby Locklear got into his vehicle to leave, the report said. The couple continued to fight. Bobby Locklear grabbed his wife, and she started to bite him. He struck her again, the report said. Tashia Locklear tried to hit her husband, but her fist went through the window of the car as Bobby Locklear closed the door, the report said. ...Robeson County Sheriff Ken Sealey said this morning that no charges have been filed against the officer, and that his department's investigation should be completed by Wednesday. Sealey said that after his department's investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office, which will make the call on charges. He described the incident as a domestic dispute in which both the officer and his wife allegedly had words and there was physical contact. Maxton Town Manager Katrina Tatum confirmed the incident is under investigation by the town's Police Department. "It is standard procedure for an officer to put on administrative leave with pay in this kind of case unless there is compelling evidence to do otherwise," she said. "We don't know how something like this will turn out, but it is assumed in this kind of situation that an officer is innocent until proven guilty"...
