...[NEW ORLEANS POLICE OFFICER CHRISTOPHER] BUCKLEY WAS BOOKED ON TUESDAY ON CHARGES OF RAPING THE 13-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER OF HIS GIRLFRIEND... SIMILAR ALLEGATIONS WERE MADE AGAINST BUCKLEY IN 2001 AND 2003... IN ONE CASE, A 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL MADE ALLEGATIONS... IN THE OTHER CASE, TWO GIRLS, AGES 12 AND 8, MADE COMPLAINTS... EACH CASE, INCLUDING WITNESS STATEMENTS AND EVIDENCE, WAS HANDED OVER TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE. EACH TIME, THE CASES WERE REFUSED...
A sharing of my personal thoughts:
If Buckley did this, who is responsible for his crimes? If he committed these crimes he's too twisted to monitor himself - as a serial predator. How many children were threatened - were too afraid to come forward? EVEN IF THE CHILDREN OR FAMILIES WERE INTIMIDATED INTO SILENCE OR RESIGNATION, THE TRUTH OF HIS ALLEGED SEXUAL PENCHANT FOR CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED WITH TESTING. How many victims are there? What liability do the police, city, and district attorneys office bear? If Buckley's girlfriend had KNOWN there was a string of previous allegations from children - or convictions - how likely would it be that she would have put her daughter in harms way? (She has got to be devastated by this.) He's a cop. If Buckley did this, what a cover! If Buckley did this, who REALLY raped his latest victim? A whole broken system gang-banged her. If Buckley did this, everyone who made his career more important than the complaints of the previous young victims, or who were too incompetent to do their jobs, should be held complicit to rape. Who amongst them can heal the damage done to these lives? To the parents of Buckley's (alleged) victims, the only thing this broken chain of justice for your children will understand, the only thing that will make them change how they do things, sadly, is money. If Buckley was not subjected to a battery of psychosexual testing after your children's complaints, go after them. Grab them where it hurts and squEEze - for all your family's have been through and in behalf of all the people who will become victims in the future if you don't. God bless everyone harmed in this. My heart grieves and prayers are lifted for you all. And thank you to all the true professionals in these broken systems that have to endure the shame brought to you by Officer Buckley.
NOPD OFFICER ACCUSED OF RAPE HAD HISTORY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT COMPLAINTS
by Brendan McCarthy, The Times-Picayune
October 22, 2008
[Excerpts] New Orleans Police Superintendent Warren Riley said this morning that the NOPD officer arrested yesterday for raping a 13-year-old girl has a history of sexual assault complaints made by young girls. Riley said similar allegations were made against Buckley in 2001 and 2003 and the NOPD opened internal investigations both times. Each case, including witness statements and evidence, was handed over to the district attorney's office. Each time, the cases were refused, Riley said. The district attorney's office cited "failure of the victim or their parents" to cooperate as reasoning for dropping those cases, Riley said. One case was handled by Harry Connick's office and the other by Eddie Jordan's office. In one case, a 16-year-old girl made allegations against Buckley. In the other case, two girls, ages 12 and 8, made complaints of inappropriate sexual behavior... On Tuesday, department veteran Buckley, who joined the city's police force in 1998, resigned after being arrested in the rape of the 13-year-old daughter of an acquaintance, according to the NOPD. Buckley was booked into Orleans Parish Prison on three counts of forcible rape and three counts of oral sexual battery, according to court records. The arrest stemmed from an internal investigation conducted by the department's Public Integrity Bureau... [Full article here]
NEW ORLEANS OFFICER FACED RAPE CHARGES IN PAST
WDSU
October 22, 2008
[Excerpts] ...The 2003 cases involved a 12-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl on separate incidents. The NOPD turned the complaints over to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office but prosecutors did not bring charges against Buckley, citing insufficient evidence. In each case, either the victim or the victim's parents did not cooperate with investigators. Buckley was booked on Tuesday on charges of raping the 13-year-old daughter of his girlfriend. Buckley resigned from the NOPD after his arrest. Wednesday Superintendent Riley said had he been at the helm of the department when Buckley was investigated, he would have fired Buckley. Buckley, a 10-year veteran of the force, is being held on a $525,000 bond. [Full article here]

Im so very sorry for the 13 year old lil girl. Well all i have to say is NOPD's infamous P.I.B. could have prevented this lil 13 year old girl from getting raped / molested if they would have booked Chris Buckley for the 4 other inappropriate sexual conduct charges he had placed on him in his 10 years with NOPD one of which was made by his own neice. Yes you heard it right citizens of New Orleans he was charged with 4 prior sexual charges on juvenile girls and P.I.B. allowed him to roam the city in a police uniform with police powers in search of his next juvenile victim. This is horrendous. But I need to make one correction to this article. Officer Buckley was NOT most recently assigned to the 5th District; he was most recently assigned to SWAT school and the SWAT team. This is a tragedy for the young woman and her family; sadly one of her parents is an officer as well. But it is also a tragedy for the officers of the 5th District. Day in and day out they are forced to jump fences and climb under sewer ridden homes in the 9th ward just to keep drugs off of our streets; and 99.9% of the time they get no credit. Yes, Buckley is lower than pond scum, but let's not turn our backs on those officers that wake up every morning and go out and do the jobs that not one of us complainers would think of! Because it is their job and some of them do take pride in making New Orleans a safer place for all of us to live in. Thank you 5th District officers! [LINK]
