I just her Anton Tchorzyk commited suicide sunday June 19th. cant find article.

its very sad what being a police officer does and causes, so much help is needed for them, but like anything else they/you have to be the first to admit there is a problem to go and get help.

  2. That is very sad to hear. People have a buffet of choices - what to do from where they are - and some choose suicide as the answer. I can only feel sadness for how dark and desolate a place that is from where it looks like the best answer.

Sometimes it takes awhile to be made public. A non-controversial death in our community happened on June 13 and just yesterday the obituary was printed.

Suicide is always sad news. Thank you for letting me know. It would be nice to hear that it was just a rumor, but we will see.

Tony was still a human being w/ feelings and a good person, just had big problems that should have been taken care of a long time ago, but the first is, you have to face the fact you have a problem before you can recieve help, he needed a lot of help and a lot of support, which he had none, people only hear/condem when things are negative, but not there to help.
again thank you all so much.

his mom was told he was in his truck... I found this
SOUTHBURY -- A Southbury police officer was found dead in his Watertown home early today.

First Selectman H. William Davis Jr. said he had no further details about the death of Anton Tchorzyk Jr., a nine-year veteran of the resident trooper's office.

He said that when Tchorzyk did not show up last night to work the midnight shift, the town sent a police officer to check on him at his Watertown home.

“He is deceased,” Davis said. “The matter is under investigation by state police.”

  6. I am very sorry to learn of Officer Tchorzyk's painful despair that ultimately lead to his death. He was a young man in this day and definitely had sunny days ahead of him, that will no longer be able to unfold, I will pray for his soul, his family and fellow officers. I am sorry that a hero so many times over, did not have the help that he needed to keep him strong.
May I humbly suggest, during these darker trying times no matter how tired you officers are, that you keep going to church with your family or at least by your selves for spiritual food and substance.

  7. SOUTHBURY COP FOUND DEAD
    newstimes.com
    Tuesday, June 21, 2011
A Southbury police officer was discovered dead Monday in his Watertown home, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said First Selectman Bill Davis. Davis told The Republican-American that Anton Tchorzyk was found by an officer dispatched to his house to check on his well-being after he failed to show up for his overnight shift Sunday. According to State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance, an investigation was under way. He said Western District Major Crime Squad investigators are still awaiting autopsy results from the state medical examiner's office. Tchorzyk was suspended from the force in September after he was charged with disorderly conduct. The nine-year veteran of the department had previously completed a family violence treatment program following a January 2010 arrest. "He had been on leave. He was arrested last year for a domestic dispute," Davis said. "He's been undergoing counseling for alcohol abuse and an anger management program. We thought he was well past that." Davis said under the terms of the program, Tchorzyk submitted a progress report to his office each month. "It's a tragic incident. Our hearts go out to the family. It's really a sad state of affairs," he said. "
