  1. Key words in DV sentencing in which the abuser is taking a plea bargain that will circumvent the Lautenberg DV Gun Ban:
    * "domestic violence treatment" (Batterers Intervention Programs - BIPs) are generally administered by local domestic violence agencies, which are funded via VAWA. Yes, DV agencies received VAWA funds to assist DV victims and also VAWA funding to counsel abusers as part of these plea bargains which put guns back in the hands of abusers.

*Plea bargain with a short jail sentence that doesn't fit the crime (a few days of jail for a felony crime, no jail and just counseling, etc.). A majority of states have 'Lautenberg DV Gun Ban Loophole' laws which allow for any dv crime (less than murder) to be pled under the state's loophole law. Under the loophole law, the conviction is set aside or expunged after the abuser successfully completes Batterers Intervention Program = Guns returned to abuser.
