[Excerpts] Two children are without their mother after she was found dead in her home, along with a police officer. Investigators found their bodies in the woman's Bedford home Monday morning. The Bedford Police Department isn't talking publicly about one of their own apparently killing someone else, and then himself. Officers came to the home on Trinton Circle a little after 8:30 Monday morning after a neighbor reported hearing gun shots. Inside, they found the body of the woman who lived there, 29-year-old Kathryn Tucker... Then they found 36-year-old Kyle Brown, an officer with the Bedford Police Department. Police say he had shot himself... Police said Tucker had two children, ages nine and 14. Officer Brown at once worked for the nearby Mitchell Police Department. [Full article here]

Bedford – At 8:36 a.m. the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department responded to a shots fired call at 1051 Trenton Circle, Bedford. Upon their arrival deputies discovered a male and female subject deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The male subject was recognized by deputies as a Bedford Police Officer, an agency the Sheriffs Department works closely with. This prompted the Lawrence County Sheriff to contact the Indiana state Police Bloomington Post to head up the investigation. Preliminary investigations indicate Kathryn R. Tucker, 29 had recently ended a relationship with Kyle Brown, 35. This morning Mr. Brown drove his personal vehicle to her residence at which time he made entry into her home. According to the Lawrence County Coroner, John Sherrill, both subjects died from apparent gunshot wounds. Mr. Brown’s fatal wound appeared to be consistent with a self inflicted one. Family members have been notified.

Deceased:
Kathryn R. Tucker, 29
1051 Trenton Circle, Bedford, IN

Kyle Brown, 35
Bedford, IN

Comments I noticed:
...she was my wife.rip baby your husband ron tucker will always love you....
...A friend of mine said he used to work at G.E., and he was a psycho then. I just hope the Bedford Cops don't try to pin this rap on the guy who hid in the closet at the time of the shooting. This guy was trying to get back with his ex-wife/girlfriend when all this took place. But knowing the cops here in Bedford that is just what they will try to do -- ramrod an innocent person -- just to cover up one of their own...

...He shot her 8 times....she had made several calls to BPD reporting his stalking. and threats...that should be evidence thats trackable....right? Poor husband who tried to save her...I hear he was questioned "EXCESSIVELY". When help finally arrived it was to late to save yet another woman from violence...

Kat will be dearly missed. She was getting a divorce from her husband who lived in Texas. They had some arguements, but she was trying to change and fix her relationship with him.The other man that was in her house was her oldest daughter's father. Kat was a very caring, loving individual. She was loved by everyone and was a great mother. There is nothing she would not do for those girls. It is so tragic this psycho ended her life and now her kids have lost their mother. Rest in peace Kat. We love you.

First of all the poor bastard that hid in the closest huh! What kind of man lets his daughter (Kaitlyn's) mamma, answer to someone breaking in? John Tegarden is the biggest fuckin coward to ever walk. Just about 10 yrs ago he broke into many peoples homes took everything he could, and then told on all of his so called friends like it was all them, and poor John was the innocent one. The bastard has always thought about his self first, never once about his litlle girl that he never took care of. So how do u praise the coward that should have answered the call to protect his babies mamma, but yet the fuckin BASTARD hid in the closet like a coward he is and will always be. Way to go John, you used another one of your lives you coward. Not to mention he had to text someone to call for help cause he was to scared to come out of the closet to protect Kathryn.

My comment is to the PP. Sure John Tegarden hasn't made the best choices in his life, but calling him a coward and bastard for hiding in a closet. That's just wrong. Think about the big picture before you name call. I see it like this Kat and John are in the bedroom when they hear someone bust through the door Kat must of known it was Kyle. Kat tells John to hide so Kyle won't see him while she can go out and talk Kyle down and make him leave. While John is in the closet waiting for Kat to come back "all hell breaks lose". John hears Kat's last words, gunshots then silence. Not knowing if Kyle is still in the house he stays in the closet and texts for help. Do you really think John or Kat thought for a second that when they got up they knew how there day would play out? I think John had a level head that day and had he been discovered he too would be died. How could a man without a gun protect a women from a man with a gun?

  10. To the person trying to leave a slam on Kat - perhaps you need to take a long walk, and maybe sit by the sea for awhile and

    think.

    I won't post your comment.

geewiz. I can't believe all this. Everyone wants to point the finger and say that someone should have done something. There was nothing that anyone could have done. Pray for each other and let the healing begin. Everyone will be missed at some point in their life. Woopty doo. She got mixed up with an abusive piece of crap, wich it seems that is pretty much all thats in this town, and it cost her her life. I'm not from here, thank God. Everyone in this town needs to look in the mirror and say, I can do better.

I think that the bpd is trying to hide some evidence, people seen a police car being towed away the day the sadness happened, now why would a police car been towed if it was not at the house..

Coming out of the closet to get shot doesn't sound like a good plan to me. If anyone was with me when I was being murdered my last thought would be hoping they stay hidden.

Life isn't like the movies where you get to be the hero and wrestle the gun away.

I am THANKFUL that there wasn't more death. I think the only people who have a right to jab at him are people who have leaped out of a closet, unarmed, into a barrage of bullets being fired by a man gone mad.

    THEN, you can talk.

    Whoops.

    THEN you'd be dead.

I knew Kyle. We were in the same grade. My last name is Brown too so we sat next to each other in school for many years. Kyle was introverted, yet very funny. Though I have to say this does not surprise me. He always did get a little too frustrated at times. Others didn't really get along with him. He just never knew where he fit in.

I am very sorry to Katherine's family. This is very sad.

    God bless you all.

  16. after the fact that it's all said and done I still go and see my loving sisters grave paying my respects to the one sister that never had a reason to hurt no one. But that still don't excuse the cowardness of "innocent" little john teagarden he shouldv'e answered the door for Kat and took the bullit for his "woman" I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU JOHN for the cowardness you showed you shouldv'e been the one to die not her. Pray to your god our paths never cross john. RIP "KAT" you will never be forgotten.....

  17. That's so sad. Usually I keep people from blaming people here on the blog - but I can feel the love you have for your sister and your anger is a raw reality.

I wasn't there but Kyle is to blame. He was a ruthless selfish hurricane.

No one should have had to decide who would die or what should have been done differently after it was over.

Much love to you Sister of Kat forever...

  18. my name is john tegarden(the coward in the closet)"that never was in the closet".to everyone out there who really wants to know the truth.here it comes.
kathryns closet was full of stuff from top to bottom with no room for anyone to hide even if someone wanted to..
i woke up to kathryn lookin out the window blinds, saying o-shit kyles here.she jumped out of bed and said stay here i will tell him to leave.and she shut the bedroom door.i got out of bed and was tryin to get my clothes on(cause i was naked, and i was thinkin i was getin ready to get beat up by a cop and i wanted clothes on)then 30 seconds later he shot her.thats how it happend and if it makes anyone feel better to think that there was something i could have done.then think that.but i still think about her and what happened every waking moment.i hardly ever sleep because of it .

    ReplyDelete
  19. i think about what happened every sec. but kyle brown was on a mission to do what he done .he shot kathryn twice not 8 times.then he did the best thing he ever did turned the gun on him self and blew his face off.
all you people out there say i would of done this or that.but this is real life ,and you would of done nothing .cuase there wasnt time to do anything.so stop the gossiping.k...her daughters do read this stuff to.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Her beautiful daughters are the only ones who matter now. There is no point in pointing fingers or throwing blame around, Kyle was to blame it makes it horrible for those of us who loved her so much that we were cheated out of someone to blame, nobody to be mad at....I have never met John but he is the father or a young lady I love very much, as well as Kat's other daughter. We are all still hurting over this and she will forever be missed. I know that she is in a better place now and I can't wait to meet up with her again someday. Let's please let her Rest in Peace and give our love and support for her daughters, that's what she would have wanted. I love and miss you so very much "Sis".

  21. I don't know Kat Tucker, but know after reading her myspace page that there are clear signs of obsessive possessive behavior presented my Kyle Brown. He was trying to place himself above everyone else who left Kat nice messages. Kyle's presence is very overwhelming in Kat's Myspace page. Clearly there are warning signs in her myspace page. This is something EVERY lady must look at as my friend and I did. It scared her, because she was receiving the same kind of messages daily from another guy. This is a true testimony of obsessive and possessive behavior is and how it can be a sign of danger down the road. I hope everyone in Kat's family is doing better. May God Bless all of you.

  23. Kathryn was not only my best friend but my sister and that dumb bastard took her away from not only me but her girls her parents and nanny. Jon is the BIGGEST COWARD. I would have died to let her live. BUT jon hides in a closet I wouldn't have. I would have tried to fight him long enough for her to get out and still be here with her family and friends that don't go a day without thinkin about her. Kyle Brown I hope u enjoy your eternity in flames. How could you take a young mother away from her babies and family and all the ones she loved and that loved her back. I guess the Police need to do so kind of psycho test before they hire some more stupid cops around this town!!

Kyle fuck you. Biggest piece of shit I've ever seen besides Jon. Jon you could have done something than just hid in the bedroom. I would have much rather you taken the bullet that my aunt. You're a fucking coward.
