Joseph Bannerman of the Baltimore Police's Violent Crime Impact Division seems to have had some violent impact of his own. At least to his former girlfriend. But no worries, after being convicted of second degree assault for punching her in the face and shoving her to the ground; Judge Halee Weinstein gave him a huge break. Incidentally, Judge Weinstein is the same judge that once questioned whether The Baltimore Spectator's A.F. James MacArthur was a real journalist or not.

He was suspended from the department and could be fired pending the outcome of an internal investigation, according to a police spokesman. The incident occurred May 8 on the porch of the woman's home in the 2900 block of W. Mosher St., according to prosecutors.
