Ex-Florence County Sheriff's Deputy Timothy Poole & wife Jodie Ann Poole
SON INDICTED IN NESMITH HOMICIDE CASE
From local reports
May 4, 2009
[Excerpts] United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins announced on Friday, May 1, 2009 that Timothy James Poole, 35, and Jodie Ann Poole, 33, both of Florence, South Carolina, are in federal custody after a federal grand jury issued an indictment against them yesterday. The Pooles will make an initial appearance in federal court in Florence either Friday or Monday. The indictment charges the Pooles with one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, seventeen counts of mail fraud, and two counts of wire fraud... The indictment charges that as part of the conspiracy Timothy Poole shot and killed his mother and step-father, William Henry Hilton, Jr., at their Lakewood Plantation at Nesmith in Williamsburg County, and then caused mailings in order to fraudulently benefit from her trust and estate. The indictment further alleges that Timothy Poole and Jodie Poole concealed Timothy Poole’s involvement in the murder to preserve his status as an heir and to insure his eligibility to receive income from various trusts and estates immediately, rather than at the end of his mother’s natural life. Timothy Poole served as a deputy with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office from 1997 to 2002. Poole was earlier arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime by the Williamsburg County Sheriffs Department in November 2006. Linda Bright-Poole Hilton, 60, and her husband of about two years, William Henry “Bubba” Hilton Jr., 64, were found shot to death Aug. 2, 2006 in the Nesmith community of eastern Williamsburg County... On December 15, 2006, Circuit Judge Clifton Newman on Dec. 15 denied bond. But a few days later, Williamsburg County magistrate William Driggers presided over Poole’s preliminary hearing and dismissed the charges against him, ruling there was not enough probable cause to pursue the case... I think he is only being accused of this because he is an ex-deputy sheriff. He was a good sheriff who loved his job and loved the law. He is a man who loved his mother and would never cause any harm to her. He and his wife are victims in this just like the rest of the families. A son of a murdered mother.
ReplyDeleteMay they both rot in hell for eternity, they did it they know it and so does every other sole in SC! May justice be served!!
ReplyDeleteThey are both guilty!! EVERYONE knows it!! I certainly hope BOTH of them get what they deserve for harming such lovely people. Henry nor Linda would do anything to harm anyone. I hope and pray justice for their crimes will be in the near future for Timothy and Jodie!!

[Excerpts] A former Florence County sheriff’s deputy, who was suspected of killing his mother and stepfather in Nesmith, and his wife have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the deaths.
Timothy James Poole, 35, and Jodie Ann Poole, 33, both of Florence, are in federal custody after a federal grand jury issued an indictment against them Thursday... The indictment charges the Pooles with one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, 17 counts of mail fraud and two counts of wire fraud. Each count in the indictment carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison... The indictment charges that as part of the conspiracy, Timothy Poole shot and killed his adoptive mother, Linda Poole Hilton, and stepfather, William Henry “Bubba” Hilton Jr. of Nesmith at their Lakewood Plantation on Aug. 2, 2006, then “caused mailings in order to fraudulently benefit from her trust and estate”... The indictment further alleges that Timothy and Jodie Poole concealed Timothy Poole’s involvement in the murder to preserve his status as an heir and to insure his eligibility to receive income from various trusts and estates immediately, rather than at the end of his mother’s natural life... The Hiltons had been shot multiple times and were probably killed the night before their bodies were discovered by a caretaker, Washington said... “It’s just panic, it’s fear, it’s rage… I mean, you are so upset,” said daughter Kimberly Hilton-Reeves. “I couldn’t think. All I did was cry. I started throwing up. It’s a feeling like I don’t want anyone else to ever have to feel.” “Words can’t describe it,” son Michael Hilton said. “I guess I was in shock ... it didn’t really set in I guess, until the day of the funeral”... Bubba Hilton’s children say they question the authority of the magistrate judge in the case, and wonder why the case didn’t make it to a higher court... This case also was investigated by the FBI, State Law Enforcement Division, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service,, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rose Mary Parham and Buddy Bethea of the Florence office.
May the Hilton family and friends be confident and hopeful that justice will finally prevail in the upcoming trials ahead and these two murders, Timothy and Jodie Poole, will be put away forever.
ReplyDeletejoyce you need a life to defend criminals like this and it is quite apparent you watch too much jerry springer.
ReplyDeleteevryone needs to quit trying to say tim and jodie are guilty and they haven't been on trial yet. i know both of them. my opinion on them is that there greedy, selfish, and inconsiderate of everyone. but, that doesn't mean there murderers. do i think there capable, yes. but, that's my opinion. that doesn't mean i'm right. everyone needs to let the law do there job and prove that they did or didn't do this. if the world gave that law to people saying, they should burn in hell, alot of innocent people would be convicted or die. so give a jury a chance to discover the truth, before everyone pass judgement. that's what the law is for.
