[Excerpts] A judge in Walker County, Georgia denied bond Monday for a former LaFayette cop charged with murder. Sam Parker is suspected of killing his estranged wife Theresa. She vanished more than two years ago and her body has never been found... Parker was scheduled for trial next month, but the judge has a conflict. No new date has been set. [Full article here]

Walker County Superior Court Judge Jon “Bo” Wood denied a renewed bond request for former LaFayette, Ga., police officer Sam Parker, and one of Mr. Parker’s lawyers said he isn’t sure when another request may be made... Mr. Parker is accused of killing his wife, former Walker County 911 operator Theresa Parker. Mrs. Parker has been missing since March 2007, and her body has never been found. Mr. Parker also is charged with three other felonies — computer invasion of privacy, obstructing justice and violation of his oath as a law officer... Judge Wood still has a number of motions left to hear, ranging from a change of venue request from the defense to a motion to allow witness testimony via deposition from District Attorney Leigh Patterson... In his request for bail, Mr. Woodruff argued that the cost to house and transport Mr. Parker was a burden on the county and that his client should be released to his family...
