(And what happened to the 2002 incident? How many state police witnesses were there to the assault? If the wife said she didn't want to press charges - likely out of fear - does that mean it's treated like it never happened? I'd love to see some deeper reporting. These articles are from the beginning of the month. I was WAITING to hear more.)

Trooper Marvin Norfolk was indicted by a Tipton County grand jury Monday in an incident that allegedly occurred at his Brighton home during a court-approved visitation during the Christmas holidays... The wife, Dawn Norfolk, who police said was present during the incident, has also been indicted on charges of filing a false police report. Norfolk, 47, has been put on administrative leave with pay pending an internal investigation by the Department of Safety Office of Professional Responsibility. Norfolk was already on paid leave after he was named as the respondent in an order of protection on Jan. 25... [Excerpts] A Tennessee State Trooper has been indicted on charges of child abuse and lying to investigators. Marvin Norfolk faces charges of child abuse and filing a false police report... His wife Dawn was right behind him.  She's charged with lying to detectives during their investigation... "We worked with the TBI and DCS due to the victim being a child," said Chief Donna Turner with the Tipton Co. Sheriff's Office. Turner said a 9-year-old family member was beaten during a stay in the trooper's home over the Christmas holidays.  Investigators say Norfolk's wife was present during the alleged abuse.  Chief Turner saw the injuries herself. For now, the trooper is on administrative leave with pay... After the charges were read, Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Marvin Norfolk, Sr. and his wife told the judge they are in the process of hiring attorneys to represent them in their case... The investigation surrounds a December allegation of physical abuse of a 9-year old family member. The incident happened at the couple's Brighton, Tennessee home during a court approved visitation for the Christmas holidays. The Tipton County Sheriff's Office says the abuse consisted of bruising and welts to the face, back, upper torso, arm, thighs, legs and groin area. Now, the child remains in the custody of his mother... The trooper was suspended for 3 days without pay back in January 2009 for lecturing a motorist who wouldn't slow down because she explained she was rushing her husband to the hospital; he was having a heart attack. Earlier this year, Norfolk, Sr. was placed on administrative leave with pay following an order of protection filing against him in January. In February, he was reassigned to administrative duties. And then this month, he was placed back on administrative leave with pay after the indictment, until the investigation is complete. A police supervisor was immediately dispatched to the scene and contacted the female victim who advised that during an argument, her husband, identified as 30 year old Dadrien Updite, had physically attacked her... Detectives were immediately notified and began their investigation. As a result of this investigation, detectives this afternoon obtained an arrest warrant charging Dadrien Updite with one count of domestic abuse battery... Updite was taken into custody by investigators and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on the outstanding warrant. Officer Updite, who joined the Shreveport Police Department in July of 2008, has been placed on administrative leave by Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn in accordance with departmental policy. A Pocola police officer shot his wife in the foot Wednesday while clearing his weapon at their Moffett home, according to an incident report. Fort Smith police were called to Sparks Regional Medical Center at about 11 a.m. in reference to a battery report. Pocola police officer Thomas Crowe, 38, told police he had been shooting his weapon in the bottoms, south of Roland that morning, according to a police report. When he returned home he sat down next to his wife, Melanie, and accidentally shot her in the right foot while trying to clear his weapon, according to the report. Thomas Crowe then drove his wife to Sparks for treatment. The Moffett Police Department was called onto the case and arrived at Sparks to take a report from the couple. [LINK]

Officers later learned Lawson, 30, had pulled out a gun in front of his girlfriend’s children after threatening their father with physical harm, according to a police report. Lawson was not arrested, but ordered in to talk with prosecutors Thursday, March 11. A case was created in Dayton Municipal Court Thursday morning with a misdemeanor charge of menacing, according to court records. Lawson is scheduled for arraignment in municipal court on March 23. The report says an ex-girlfriend told a Flagler County deputy that Nasby was stalking her though e-mails, phone calls and Facebook. [Excerpts] A city police officer has been fired after officials say he abused department resources to stalk a former girlfriend and visit banned Web sites. Officer Russell Nasby, 45, was terminated Monday following a four-month internal investigation launched in November. He had been on paid administrative leave since Jan. 29. "I just want to apologize to the city of Bunnell and to remind law enforcement that we're held to a higher standard," said Police Chief Arthur Jones. A teacher at a local elementary school told Flagler County Sheriff's Office investigators in October that her relationship with Nasby ended in July but that he was stalking her on social networking sites, e-mail and by telephone... The woman, who is not being identified because of the nature of the case, declined to press charges or pursue an injunction for fear of retaliation by Nasby... But the complaint prompted Bunnell police to launch an investigation into Nasby's possible misuse of resources to visit banned Web sites and conduct unauthorized searches in the state driver and vehicle database... The woman wrote Nasby an Oct. 26 e-mail asking him not to contact her again, but he did. And in a Jan. 26 e-mail to another Bunnell officer, she said Nasby stopped behind her and her boyfriend in a marked patrol car in a parking lot and drove off soon after while shouting expletives. An Elgin police officer has received a letter of reprimand for an incident in which his wife accidentally shot his service weapon inside their home while showing his gun collection to visiting relatives... "Your negligence resulted in the accidental discharge of your duty weapon by another household member," Police Chief Lisa Womack wrote in the document. The disciplinary action for Barnard, a member of the city's force since September 2006, follows an internal police probe into the Dec. 23 shooting incident at the officer's Pingree Grove home... About 10 p.m. Barnard unloaded his guns, displayed them on a bed for all to see and then left the room, police said. His wife, reports state, picked up his service weapon - a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson - and inserted a magazine of ammunition to display to her aunt how heavy it was when loaded. The gun discharged, sending a bullet through a wall in the Barnard townhouse, across an alley and into a wall attached to a neighbor's home... Reports said the Barnards delayed reporting the incident nearly 12 hours and Officer Barnard initially refused to let a Pingree Grove sergeant serve court papers to his wife... Arianne Barnard was cited for discharging a firearm within the village limits and is due to appear in court Tuesday. She could be fined up to $500 if found guilty. [Full article here]

[Excerpts] An Apopka police officer accused of shooting at her husband recently ended a two-year probationary period as punishment for policy violations in 2007, personnel records show. Officer Tanya Culver, a nine-year veteran, is on unpaid leave stemming from a shooting Sunday at her Sanford home. Internal-affairs records from Apopka police show Culver was placed on probation in January 2008 following a July 2007 arrested in Lake Mary for wrecking her personal vehicle after a night of drinking while off-duty. Reports indicate Culver was with [J.F.], her boyfriend at the time, when she crashed her car into a utility pole. Officers indicated she may have been drinking. Lake Mary initially arrested Culver and charged her with DUI and battery on a law-enforcement officer, but the charges were later downgraded to disorderly conduct. That charge was later dropped after she successfully completed a pre-trial intervention program... An Apopka police internal-affairs investigation found that Culver violated two department policies -- conduct unbecoming of an officer and criminal violations -- for acting belligerently with Lake Mary police and fire personnel who responded to the crash. She was also suspended without pay for 160 hours, or about one month, and placed on probation for a two-year period, which ended in January... [Excerpts] A veteran Apopka police officer is in danger of losing her job after she was accused of firing a gun at her new husband during an argument Sunday. Officer Tanya Culver, who married her third husband [J.F.] last month, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon... "This is something that she could be terminated for," said Officer Steve Popp, spokesman. "But we will have to wait for the outcome of the criminal trial and the internal investigation to be completed to make a decision." Culver, 36, posted $10,000 bail late Monday and was released from the Seminole County Jail with instructions that she not contact her husband or go back to their home. Police records show that Culver and [J.F.] had been drinking prior to their argument and Culver had about eight to nine beers in about two hours. The argument escalated to a physical fight that involved Culver "grabbing and scratching" her husband, police said. When the fighting ended, Culver swallowed a handful of prescription pills and then left the house in her car, [J.F.] told police. About 10 minutes later she returned home and went upstairs to change. While Culver was changing into a bathrobe [J.F.] noticed she had a gun in her hand. She pointed at her head and told [J.F.] "You want me to kill myself I'll do it," report show. [J.F.] told Culver to put the gun away and she pointed it at him and said, "You'll go first and then I'll do me," according to the document. [J.F.] walked toward Culver to pull the gun away from her and it went off, hitting the floor and landing in a box of grits on the first floor, the report shows. When Sanford officers arrived at the home, they found Culver sitting in the garage.
