SARPY COUNTY, Neb. -- A woman shot in the home of a Sarpy County deputy Sunday night was handling a gun when it went off, said Sarpy County Sheriff Lt. Randy Furby. The 24-year-old woman is the wife of the deputy who lives at the home, said Capt. Monte Daganaar. Her two children, ages 2 and 7, were in the house at the time, Furby said. The bullet hit the woman in the chest. She has since gone into surgery and is in stable condition, Furby said. She was handling a semi-automatic weapon that was owned by the family and not a service weapon, Daganaar said. The weapon was an "off-duty gun," he said. Multiple law enforcement agencies and the Douglas County Crime Lab all arrived at the home near 155th and Edna streets just after 8:45 p.m. Sheriff Jeff Davis said other people witnessed the shooting. It is not clear why the woman was handling a gun.

This man abused me growing up. Left bruises on me. Beat my mom in front of me. Dragged her up the stairs screaming by her hair. Called me robot and retard when he was angry, but in public in a good mood he called me buddy. He can't even help my two little sisters with math. At hotels, he insists on sharing a bed with my twelve year old sister. This is your badge.
DeleteWes McVay was home at the time. He was supposed to be on the road. The only time the police asked Jessica (Holder) McVay if he was involved, she was unable to speak. Wes had a full week with her before she was able to talk to anyone else. They "investigated" Wes McVay, which involved no questions for family or friends. In 2011, she kicked him out of the home for leaving bruises on her autistic son. Her son has said the only violence he has ever encountered was from Wes McVay. Wes is now a Dare officer, running camps and encountering kids every day.
ReplyDeleteJessica talked to a Bellevue Police officer and disclosed a high level of abuse during the marriage. She qualified for free legal council. Wesley is now trying to regain custody of his children. I have seen him throw things at his ex-wife and neglect his youngest daughter. My daughter is friends with his oldest, who has major medical issues and is terrified of him. His ex wife, former step son and daughters deserve reprieve from this horrible man. Sarpy County should have done more when this terrified young woman was shot--perhaps ask why he was home? why he used his radio to call the responder rather than the phone (he should have been at work). This man grew up with tremendous violence and he will not let it rest.
