[Excerpts] After a heated court hearing, a former West Orange police officer was sent back to jail Monday for allegedly holding his wife at gunpoint in their Andover Borough home last October. A Sussex County grand jury had indicted Keith C. Reilly, 28, on eight criminal counts Thursday, prompting prosecutors to seek a higher bail than the $100,000 Reilly posted months ago. Superior Court Judge N. Peter Conforti raised bail to $250,000 in light of the indictment. The most serious charge, kidnapping, is punishable by 15-30 years in prison... Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller argued the increase was necessary, because Reilly flouted a court order prohibiting contact with his wife... An arrest affidavit said Reilly threatened and assaulted his wife during a three-hour incident in the early morning of Oct. 16. Reilly allegedly struck his wife's head with his head, bit her face, told her to slit her wrists with a steak knife or he'd shoot her, and then threatened her with the same knife, the affidavit said. Also, the wife told police Reilly dragged her around the living room floor by her neck, placed a pillow over her face and held a handgun on the other side, disengaging the safety and threatening to kill her... She told police Reilly threatened to kill her if she tried to leave or call police, the affidavit said. The indictment also charges Reilly with criminal restraint, two counts of making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
