  1. [VA] Deputy Sheward's duct-taped wife & 2 caged foster girls

Anonymous has left a new comment:
Hi, I hope you are getting this because I know it has been a few years since this incident occurred, but I am one of the girls who was involved in this case. I was the 16 year old runaway teen who Sheward sexually abused in that abandoned jail house. I was sitting here with my mother-in-law going through the inernet about my old court case and here you are. It brings tears to my eyes to see someone who actually sees the situation for what it is; how corrupt and how cruel this officer actually was to me and my foster sister. And you are right, it is just too little too late for me, my foster sister and his estranged wife. During the trial, she was there in the court room the entire time, and after he assaulted her like that, she even smiled at us when we testified against him. I will never forget that meek, trembling smile. It reassured me and I understood that she was on our side and not his. I was so happy to read the words that you wrote and I feel now, finally years later, that I can move on. You are also right about my perspective changing about how I feel about law enforcement in general, but if you are reading this I want you to know that the way I have viewed life hasn't changed a bit; I still meet everyday with the same optimism and entusiasm as I always have. And I hope you'll be happy to hear that I am getting my degree in criminal justice as we speak; I am no longer afraid to face the evils of my past. If you get this, please comment back because there is so much more I would like to tell you. I will be checking often. Thank you for what you wrote; it means alot to me....

[MI] Neighbors didn't call the police when State Police Sgt. Melvin Paul Holbrook's wife Joni was abused.

Anonymous has left a new comment:
Why do most who are abused go back? Mayb the previous poster didn't, but many do. Just because she moved out of the house & papers were filed doesn't mean the threats of violence stopped. Many victims will, under threats & pressure, even bail their abusers out of jail in fear of his release on bond. Or perhaps, after 8 years she knew he too had a human & decent side and was promised he would get help, he would stop, he would be better. Although from the outside looking in it's easy to judge and call her crazy or a fool, but she wasn't on the outside. Do you really believe he would've spent time in jail? He was a cop for goodness sakes! This is not a black & white world, unfortunately it is shades of gray, which leaves all to perspective.

[FL] Now ex Officer Willis is also facing a domestic battery charge

Anonymous has left a new comment:
Willis has also intimidated and threatened people in this town on many occasions. Abuse of power is an understatement with him. Glad to see him off the force, he needs to be behind bars!

Yeah, I read the many comments on the article and didn't put here what was said there. I get a pretty good idea of what happened. Is the way it happened more noble to you?

[OH] INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO PROSECUTE GROVEPORT POLICE CHIEF GARY YORK ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE? REALLY?

Behind The Blue Wall has left a new comment:
Whoever wrote comment number one appears to me to be delicately and intimately connected to the ego of York. It's AMAZING to me how many of these stories accuse the wife or girlfriend of being nuts... as if law enforcement officers choose women who are insane. That's so ridiculous. But again, by the time you live through these situations or live IN these situations for prolonged periods it can really take it's toll. I am very familiar with fear and with crazy-making behaviors. Living with that makes you question everything, starting with not knowing what LOVE is anymore and ending with is the sky really blue? Abuse - intentional cruelty and brutality by someone you once thought loved you, can truly undo you, to the core of your soul.

Can you believe this guy still has his job? How can he ever prosecute these types of cases? Lets just keep giving him 90k a year of tax payer money and forget all about this incident!!!!

[PA] State Trooper Lear charged with assault, burglary, false imprisonment of ex-girlfriend

Anonymous has left a new comment:
this is just ridiculous to me... I have known Tim for about 20 years and I have never known him to have a temper or be willing to hurt anyone. He is one of the most caring guys I know... He loves his son and would never put his son in a situation like this. This girl is mad and just wants to hurt him... Sorry Tim that this is happening to you...

i am the family member that they speak of. the one who found them. my family and i tried to get the sheriffs department to intervene and remove the guns from the house for years. but because my grandfather was "one of the boys" the sheriffs or the local law enforcement would do nothing... this IS an awful thing and even worse that it could have been prevented... 4. On the post "[IN] On-duty Detective Housman shot self in front of girlfriend after being disciplined for battering her
    Anonymous left a comment:
[Excerpts] ...I loved Aaron like a brother but I won't allow personal feelings to get in the way of the facts no matter how much they hurt... He knew in advance what he was planning, hence hiding the gun on his person, premeditating the encounter (remember he went an hour out of his way to find her that day... He recorded the encounter so that no one could claim the GF had anything to do with his death and that it was by his own hand. Aaron HIMSELF didn't want her to come to any harm or suspicion!!!... His department refused to treat him even after the GF reported that she was worried about his emotional state well before the incident. As someone else said, if he really felt she lied and ruined his career he would have killed her too. Thank God he didn't and chose to died with the honor with which he lived. Let his memory remain an honorable one. See you on the other side friend....

...HE did not touch her. The mark on her arm was from where she was taking all of THEIR furniture out of the house... HE did not push a table into her it was the other way around. This is not a case of domestic violence but a case of bad police work...

[VA] Who killed Sheriff's wife Nancy Dunning?

    Anonymous said...

Fairfax county's sheriff's wife is said to have shot herself in the head committing suicide on Valentines Day of 2003. That was a bad year for sheriffs wives being shot in these neighboring counties, or someone is missing a piece of a bigger picture. In my world, coincidences don't happen without a reason. I wonder what this one was...

(I looked it up and that would be Fairfax County Virgina Sheriff Stan G. Barry's wife Megan Owen Barry.)
