[Excerpts] A Fort Myers police officer was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on a misdemeanor battery charge Tuesday night following an alleged domestic dispute with his wife... “This is not the conduct that we would expect from one of our officers," said Fort Myers Police Chief Doug Baker. [Excerpts] A Fort Myers police officer was suspended from the force Wednesday, a day after he was accused fighting with his wife. Oneil A. Kerr, 35, of Lehigh Acres, was charged with battery... The wife, 32, said she and Kerr were arguing about his infidelity when he pushed a key against her neck. She pushed him back; he grabbed her chest, and threw her to the ground which caused her to hit her head. She began to kick and push to try to get Kerr away, when he grabbed her face and shoved her head to the ground. She tried to call 911, but Kerr took her cell phone. She then tried to get into her car, but was grabbed, causing bruises on her arms. He left with her cell phone. A deputy wrote she had broken blood vessels in her eyes, causing the whites to be red. She was taken to Lehigh Regional Hospital for treatment. A few hours later he went to the Lee County Jail and turned himself in... [Full article here]
