NYPD Sgt. DeMarco over ex's car with bloody hands is "mischief"?

COP TAKES IT OUT ON EX'S AUTO
New York Post
By JAMIE SCHRAM
March 15, 2007
A drunken NYPD sergeant in Queens slashed his ex-girlfriend's tires and smashed her car windows before trying to speed away from responding officers, authorities said. Joseph DeMarco, a sergeant at the 102nd Precinct with 15 years on the force, faces up to one year in jail after he was charged with DWI, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. Cops on patrol at Woodhaven Boulevard and 69th Avenue - in the precinct next to DeMarco's -
discovered the 43-year-old cop standing over his ex-girlfriend's car with bloody hands at 4 a.m...
All four tires of his ex's 2004 Ford Focus were slashed, and its back and front passenger-side windows were shattered. DeMarco saw the cops and jumped into the driver's seat of his vehicle, a 2001 Nissan Xterra, which he had left running... He allegedly refused at first to leave his vehicle, but cops eventually coaxed him out and arrested him.

"Mischief"? Skip legalese - if I was his ex this would be nothing less than terror.
Knife? Stabbing? Drunk? Running? Bleeding? 4a.m.?
From inside her house I'd think this looks life-threatening.
Thank you to the officers out on patrol - doing your jobs, who did the right thing and brought him in. Letting him go wouldn't help him get his life right. And who would know for sure - believe her - what level of danger his ex is in?
Who knows where a drunk stabber may want to go next?
Where is he now and what's different? Is he done with alcohol? Suspended or back at work? Where's his ex, is she an officer, is she safe? Does she have a place to turn for advocacy in the legal proceedings? Will he go to court, or will it disappear?

Will everyone be alright. Prayers for all.

  2. I know of a incident where a captain alexander laera went to the home of sgt demarco and a altercation insued. The captain was upset from a issue that took place in school with there kids. The altercation was serious enough have nassau police respond to location. the captain came to location with his firearm trying to intimidate the sgt. The captain told the officers to arrest demarco but nassau were smart to call for there supervisor who stated you both will go to jail not one. so the altercation was avoided but the captain should be held responsible. He is going to a house with a gun to intimidate the individual. This is unacceptable and low. A investigation on this captians frame of mind should be evaluated buy pschy services.

Sgt D risks his life each day, just being in the NYPD, hes cute too,I hope He finds a sweet old fashion girl who will love and honor him.....

  6. When a cop does something like sell drugs no one comes out saying that it's okay because he served the community. But if it's domestic violence too many people regard that as

not a crime. Cops don't need breaks. They need to obey the laws they enforce.

Police "coaxed" him out of his vehicle? THAT'S his break right there. That was a very nice way to do it - a way that most civilians are not afforded.

  7. It's Always A big thing if a POLICE MAN is doing wrong? if anyone could have got hurt or died he could have he got badly cut.. give him a brick !

  8. To the commenter whose comment I'm not going to approve: What you wrote is unsubstantiated (just about unbelievable) but a heinous crime - so you can't post that here. You have to tell police in behalf of the person. Go to county police - not city police. If it's true, you must. IF it is true and I posted it, what would come of it except more harm?

  10. In reading this story, it is obvious that this is a ridiculous allegation that deserves zero response...no police officer is going to arrest a fellow officer over a car...think how stupid this sounds? It is disgusting to try to ruin someone's reputation that puts their life on the line for us every single day...whoever published this nonsense should be ashamed of themselves..perhaps they are jealous of his accomplishments?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Agreed, how ridiculous this allegation is. No fellow police officer would arrest his own & especially over a car.
    Stop insulting everyone's inteligience!

  13. I was just going back over mail, and I see that SIX messages for this page were written and sent all right after each other, obviously all written by one person.

Reading back over the comments above, the recent sender is almost certainly the SAME person who wrote most of the ones already here. I'll just post some samples of this latest set of submissions because as stated, victim bashing comments are not allowed:

"The Sgt. was set up by the jilted old lover when they dated as teenager... He was only trying to help her... his charges were dropped and received some bullshit reprimand from the nypd... The incident with Captain Laera never happen... the captain did not like him... THats a great picture of Sgt demarco whom was awarded at a cop of the month ceromony for putting his life on the line for others... You should remove the picture as well as these articals . Do you have permission to post false allocations?... Hes a devoted father friend and police officer who always tries to help others even when danger is around him. This was simply made up by ______ _______ female that wanted him... Hes actually still HOT!... The artical is Bullshit That never happened Get your facts straight and remove the unauthorized... Wow! 2. I'm sorry that you misunderstood and thought I was advocating for him. I'm not. I was presenting a sample of the emails that appear to be coming from one author... someone who puts the blame everywhere or anywhwere else.

Thats article is false with no factual meaning. It is a form of written violence against the officer and degrading for something that made of happen with some truth so long in the past. It is not an official documentand has questionable truth. The above picture is actually a partial picture that cuts out the other parties taken at a real ceromony to honor cops for their herotic acts that month. They received awards for acts of valor during a robbery arrest. Where did you get it? Was that picture obtsined illegally and doctored just like the above article?

      New York Daily News

...New York City cops caught driving drunk may have problems to worry about - but losing their job usually isn't one of them... In several cases, the NYPD could have seen it coming. Take the case of Joseph DeMarco. Seven years before he joined the force, DeMarco pleaded guilty to...
