[Excerpts] ....Seekonk Police Chief Craig Mace was notified that a Seekonk Police officer [Gary Rushing] had been reportedly involved in past domestic violence incidents. In a release, Chief Mace said he apprised the Bristol County District Attorney's Office of the allegations, as is protocol, and that two Massachusetts State Police detectives were assigned to investigate... Rushing was arraigned in Taunton District Court on charges of assault and battery with serious bodily injury, strangulation or suffocation, and assault and battery on a family or household member... The Bristol County District Attorney's Office requested he be fitted with a GPS monitoring device as part of the terms of his bail, but the request was denied by the judge. [Full article here]
SEEKONK POLICE OFFICER DENIES EX-GIRLFRIEND'S ASSAULT CLAIM

[Excerpts] A local police officer embroiled in a domestic dispute with a town police dispatcher he once dated was in an Attleboro courtroom Tuesday, a day after appearing in Taunton District Court. Gary L. Rushing Jr., 38, who is now on paid administrative leave, pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court to four assault charges and a strangulation charge... Rushing allegedly put an unloaded gun to the woman’s head and pulled the trigger. The woman told police she did not know the gun wasn’t loaded... Rushing is due back in Attleboro District Court June 19, a day after an appearance date was scheduled in Taunton District Court. He is free on his own recognizance with orders to stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim. He has also surrendered his weapon and firearms license. [Full article here]

[Excerpts] ...Only Eyewitness News was in court Tuesday morning when the defense waived the reading of charges against [Seekonk police officer] Gary Rushing, 38, during his arraignment. Massachusetts State Police arrested Rushing Friday and charged him with assault and battery with serious bodily injury; strangulation or suffocation; and assault and battery on a family or household member... Investigators said the woman detailed several incidents of abuse involving Rushing including several times when she said Rushing strangled her to unconsciousness. During another incident, she said Rushing pointed an unloaded gun - which she thought had bullets in it - to her head and pulled the trigger. Since the alleged incidents happened in both Seekonk and Attleboro, charges were filed in two different jurisdictions... Seekonk Police Chief Craig A. Mace Monday said Rushing - a two-year veteran with the force - was placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation. Rushing remained free on personal recognizance, but was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and is not allowed to possess a firearm while the case is pending. [Full article here]

[Excerpts] A Massachusetts police officer is accused of pointing an unloaded gun at his girlfriend, a police dispatcher, and pulling the trigger. The woman says Seekonk police Officer Gary Rushing pointed a gun at her head in 2016 and told her to kill herself after she mentioned thoughts about suicide. She says she asked him to pull the trigger, believing he wouldn't do it. She says she didn't know the gun was unloaded. Rushing denies the allegations, and his lawyer says he looks forward to clearing his name. The woman also says that Rushing choked her into unconsciousness multiple times. ReplyDeletePlease read the article. The case was dismissed without prejudice by Taunton Court. She claimed the fifth amendment on Monday to not incriminate herself. Please help to further exonerate this Seekonk MA Officer by posting this out on your social media. Thank you!
You demonstrate no understanding of the predicament that a victim of officer-involved domestic violence is in. They usually recant or refuse to testify.
