[NH] Stalking kidde-porn ex-trooper Plunkett released early from jail

A little over a year ago the news on Michael Plunkett looked like this:

Former trooper charged with stalking ex-girlfriend
Union Leader
By ROGER AMSDEN
June 23, 2006
A former New Hampshire state trooper who is charged with possession of child pornography, witness tampering and falsifying evidence was arrested this week on charges of stalking his former girlfriend, who is a key witness against him...

I don't know whatever happened to the STALKING charges - but for the rest of it Plunkett was sent to jail for a year. Sort of. He was released this month for good behavior after serving 2/3 of his sentence. From this month's news:
...Lt. Edmond White of the Belknap County Department of Corrections said that Plunkett used his "exemplary skills as a professional painter and craftsmen" while serving his sentence. Plunkett was credited with painting the bulk of the interior of the Sheriff's Department, building a new nursing station and painting many housing units at the jail. White also cited Plunkett for rebuilding a hand-carved sign at the entrance to the County Complex and mounting it near the main entrance...
Because the jail doesn't have a sex offender program, Plunkett was released without the ordered treatment. The Assistant Grafton County Attorney Melissa Pierce told the judge Plunkett had accepted responsibility for the crimes, but I wonder how that can be when PLUNKETT'S attorney Michael Icapino told the court that Plunkett blackouts and wakes up at his computer. And about Plunkett's release, Lt. White wrote to Plunkett's ex-girlfriend (and stalking victim) Patty Coates, "Mike was always polite and respectful to staff and handled this extremely tough situation very well for 8 months."

Patty asks:
How do others deal with the nightmares? How do you make it through the tough days? How do you continue to be a productive adult? I am still trying to grasp all of these concepts. It has been over a year now but still have a hard time. Will things get better? Will I sleep a full night?

Patty Coates is still haunted by the images of child pornography she discovered on her former boyfriend's computer... "I understand the [police] brotherhood, but I don't agree with it. It has to end someplace when it puts other people's lives at risk"... Coates said what angers her most is that, while she initially was considered a victim in the case, since complaining to the prosecutor about learning the outcome of the bail revocation hearing in the newspaper instead of via a phone call from Pierce's office, she has been told she cannot make a victim impact statement to the court when Plunkett is sentenced on Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. "According to [Pierce], I'm no longer a victim. What is so different now than it was before?" Coates questions.

Plunkett gets prison in child porn case

...[Judge Larry] Smukler allowed Patricia Coates of Laconia, Plunkett's former girlfriend, the opportunity to address the court prior to the sentencing... Coates filed a motion on Monday asking that she be allowed to speak at the sentencing even though the prosecutor felt she was not entitled to do so, as she did not meet the legal criteria for being classified as a victim. In poignant remarks to the court, Coates made it painfully clear who she believes are the real victims...

  2. To the person who tried to post a comment, email me some police reports to back up what you say and I will let your comment through. I won't make the reports public, but the many events you mention should have ALL resulted in police reports.
