[Excerpts] A former Gaffney police officer has been indicted on three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, following a 2008 complaint by his wife. One court document accuses Wilbert Jamison Jr., 38, of handcuffing a minor child who was in his care and locking the child face down in a closet. A second indictment stated he forced the handcuffed child to run back and forth in the backyard while Jamison beat him with a belt. And on another occasion, Jamison is accused of striking the child with a belt, including the buckle, injuring the child's foot and ankle, the third indictment stated. Each indictment described the child's injuries as physical, mental, and severe. The charges stemmed from investigations by two state agencies in response to a complaint filed by Jamison's wife... Wilbert Jamison continued to work as a police officer until Dec. 3, when he resigned for personal reasons, Gaffney City Administrator James Taylor said. Although the investigation began in April, no charges were filed until Tuesday... The state investigations began after [his former Gaffney police officer wife] filed a complaint about her husband with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on April 25. She told deputies they began arguing about 7 a.m. and he "shoved her down causing her to hit her head on the floor" before leaving for work... [Full article here]

I'd like to thank Behind The Blue Wall for exposing, enlightening and educating the public about such a private abuse. No one can imagine the fear and intimidation a police officer can inflict upon the very people he should love and protect. The control and manipulation that an abuser with power and control can exact on his victims is unbelievable. Only through God's strength and power have me and my children endured, and escaped the vicious cycle of spiritual, mental, emotional, financial, and ultimately physical abuse. Mr. Jamison did just what he was charged with, his attorney filed ridiculous pretrial motions to exclude vital testimony (including Spartanburg Children's Advocacy Center)They tried to destroy several witness' credibility. Unfortunately police officers DO have contacts and friends in the very court system these cases are tried. I was in agreement for his plea deal because it was obvious the judge was leaning toward their ridiculous demands for witness impeachment and most importantly it spared my son the daunting task of facing his father in front of everyone and telling how he hancuffed and beat him for "discipline". Mr. Jamison is also Pastor at Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. I can only pray that the Pastor gets help for his "demons"!!!............The "former" Teresa Jamison
