Troopers responded to a domestic violence call around midnight on Friday involving current Lee County Sheriff Donnie Hogan and his girlfriend, [A.M.]. "[A.M.] advised that she had been in a domestic altercation with Hogan. It started out as a verbal argument, and it escalated to an actual physical altercation," said Trooper Chris Lanham. Troopers interviewed [A.M.] at her fathers house while several other troopers arrived at Hogan's residence. "Ms. [A.M.] alleged that during the altercation she was pushed into a wall, which resulted in her receiving a laceration to the back of her head." Police took Hogan into custody on 4th degree assault charges for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. He was housed in the Madison County Jail. According to Lee County officials, Hogan is still in fact on the job and will be running for re-election as Lee County Sheriff in the fall. Hogan was released after his five thousand dollar bond was paid by a third party. [LINK]
