[Excerpts] SALT LAKE CITY -- A former Murray City police detective has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a teenage girl over the course of five years. Michael D. Spilman, 35, admitted to two counts of forcible sex abuse for fondling a teenage girl. A third charge of misdemeanor sexual battery was dismissed... He was a member of the Murray police force for nearly 10 years. He resigned on Jan. 12., a day before charges were filed. [Full article here]

[Excerpts] ...As part of a plea bargain, Spilman pleaded guilty to two second-degree felony counts. He faces the possibility of up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced June 1 by Judge Sheila McCleve... Since his arrest, Spilman has been incarcerated in lieu of $150,000 bail.
