NH VA OFFICER, WIFE, SENTENCED FOR BEATING SON
Saturday, May 9, 2009
NEWPORT, N.H. — A former New Hampshire police chief and his wife have avoided jail time by not contesting charges that they beat her teenage son bloody last month. VA Medical Center police Sgt. Anthony Guthrie and his wife, Karin, who also worked at the center, were fined $250 and received suspended 10-day sentences for simple assault. They won’t see jail time if they stay out of trouble for a year. Police say Guthrie punched the 16-year-old and hit him in the leg with a flashlight, causing swelling, bleeding and bruising. Mrs. Guthrie hit him in the face with a belt. The medical center told the New Hampshire Union Leader Mrs. Guthrie doesn’t work there anymore. Guthrie is in — what it called — "non-duty status." Guthrie was chief Washington, N.H., from 1995 to 1999. [LINK]

I know the victim, the assailant and all parties involved in this issue. The "boy" stands 6' tall, and he swung at his mother. He is bigger than both the mother and step-father. I guess he won't do that again! They found marijuana in the boys room, and when they were questioning him about it, he became upset. He threatened both the mom and step father by approaching them with his fists ready to swing, and the step-father decided that his wife would not be assaulted...and he stopped the assault on the mom. The boy again tried to assault the mom, and things got out of hand. They did call the police later that morning to report the domestic issue that had transpired, and the Washington Chief told the parents that they were justified in using force to stop the assault the son was attempting.ReplyDelete
The boy has been trouble since I've known him, and he refuses to listen to reason. I've talked to him about his issues and he refuses to see that he got what he needed.....
Hope he enjoys prison. He is heading that route.
Police tactical tools and a BELT TO THE FACE? REALLY? I can see why he has "problems." When you beat little kids like that they stop crying somewhere along the way and get hardened. Then they get taller and taller.ReplyDelete
