[Excerpts]An assault charge against Danville police officer Jerry Lee Pace Jr. was dropped Wednesday in Pittsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Pace, 38, was arrested by Pittsylvania County sheriff's deputies and charged with domestic assault... Judge Stacey Moreau dismissed the assault charge, saying there was no evidence of criminal intent. [Full article here]

Taylor said only that the deputy who arrived at the house determined there was enough evidence to arrest Pace... Pace also was charged with assault in December 2003 after a dispute with his girlfriend and her daughter, but those charges were dropped...
